We didn't start with a business plan. We started with a truckload of hides and a whole lot of stubbornness.
Jason and Michael didn’t choose this business — they were born into it. Growing up, they were knee-high at trade shows, tagging along on sourcing trips to Brazil and Europe, and learning to tell the difference between a hide that would last a lifetime and one that would fall apart in a year.
Years later, they took everything their family taught them and built Cowhides Direct: a company dedicated to raising the standard for quality, honesty, and service in an industry that needed it.

Two Kids, a Family Trade, & a World to Explore
While other kids were at summer camp, Jason and Michael were at furniture trade shows and cowhide warehouses — learning the family business from the ground up. They traveled to Brazil, Europe, and beyond with their family, meeting ranchers and suppliers, and developing an eye for quality that most people spend a career trying to build.
Starting out with just a few hides to sell, the family had very humble beginnings. But they had something no competitor could buy: decades of hands-on expertise, passed down at dinner tables and on dusty showroom floors.

When online shopping took off, Jason and Michael saw the same thing happening everywhere: sellers using stock photos, shipping random hides, and leaving customers guessing about what would actually show up at their door. They knew the industry deserved better — and they knew they could build it.
